Benoît Sokal

Benoît Sokal (Schaerbeek, 1954 – Witry-lès-Reims, 2021) was a Belgian comics author and video game designer. In 1978 he created Les Enquêtes de l'inspecteur Canardo, a hard-boiled detective series with an animal cast that ran to more than twenty albums, and went on to draw Sanguine, Le Vieil Homme qui n'écrivait plus, Paradise and the Kraa trilogy. He turned to adventure games with Amerzone in 1999 and had his greatest success with Syberia in 2002 and its sequels. Aquarica, conceived with François Schuiten, is among his last series.
