Arnold Drake

Arnold Drake (1924-2007) was an American comic book and screen writer, born and died in New York. In 1950 he co-wrote It Rhymes with Lust, an illustrated crime story now regarded as a forerunner of the graphic novel. At DC Comics he co-created the Doom Patrol in 1963 with Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani, wrote the series until 1968, and created Deadman with Carmine Infantino in 1967. Moving to Marvel, he co-created the original Guardians of the Galaxy in 1969 with Stan Lee and Gene Colan, along with Havok and Polaris. He received the Bill Finger Award in 2005 and was inducted into the Eisner Hall of Fame in 2008.
