Roy Thomas

Roy Thomas is an American comic book writer and editor, born in Missouri in 1940. He joined Marvel in 1965 and succeeded Stan Lee as editor-in-chief from 1972 to 1974. He adapted Robert E. Howard's Conan the Barbarian for comics in 1970 with the artist Barry Windsor-Smith and created Red Sonja from Howard's stories; among the Marvel characters he co-created are the Vision, Ultron, Carol Danvers, Luke Cage and Iron Fist. At DC from 1981 he revived the Justice Society and created All-Star Squadron and Infinity, Inc. He also founded the comics history magazine Alter Ego, and was inducted into the Eisner Hall of Fame in 2011.
