Peter May

Peter May is a Scottish novelist, born on 20 December 1951 in Glasgow. He worked as a journalist for The Scotsman and the Glasgow Evening Times before turning to television in 1978, writing and creating drama series for the BBC and Scottish Television, among them the Gaelic-language “Machair”. He began publishing crime fiction in 1999 with “The Firemaker”, the first of six China Thrillers, and then wrote the Enzo Macleod novels, set in France. His Lewis Trilogy — “The Blackhouse”, “The Lewis Man” and “The Chessmen” — appeared in French before it found a British publisher, and won him the Barry Award in 2013. He has also written “Entry Island”, “Coffin Road” and “Lockdown”. He has lived in France for many years and took French citizenship in 2016.
