Naomi Novik

Naomi Novik is an American novelist, born in 1973 in New York State. She studied English literature at Brown University and computer science at Columbia, and worked on the video game “Neverwinter Nights: Shadows of Undrentide” before turning to fiction. Her Temeraire series — nine novels published between 2006 and 2016, opening with “His Majesty's Dragon” — sets dragons in the Napoleonic wars and earned her the John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer in 2007. She then wrote the standalone fairy-tale novels “Uprooted” (2015), which received the Nebula and Locus awards, and “Spinning Silver” (2018), followed by the Scholomance trilogy: “A Deadly Education” (2020), “The Last Graduate” (2021) and “The Golden Enclaves” (2022). She is a co-founder of the Organization for Transformative Works and of its Archive of Our Own.
