Michael Connelly is an American crime novelist, born on 21 July 1956 in Philadelphia. He worked as a crime reporter, notably for the Los Angeles Times, before publishing his first novel, “The Black Echo”, in 1992, which won the Edgar Award for Best First Novel. It introduced LAPD detective Harry Bosch, the hero of some two dozen novels. He also created the defence attorney Mickey Haller, “The Lincoln Lawyer”, and the detective Renée Ballard. His books have been adapted for television as “Bosch”, “The Lincoln Lawyer” and “Ballard”.
