Martha Wells

Martha Wells is an American science-fiction and fantasy writer, born on 1 September 1964 in Fort Worth, Texas. She studied anthropology at Texas A&M University and published her first fantasy novels in the 1990s — “The Element of Fire” (1993), “City of Bones” (1995) and “The Death of the Necromancer” (1998) — before the seven-volume Books of the Raksura (2011-2017). She is best known for The Murderbot Diaries, opened by the novella “All Systems Red” (2017), the story of a self-aware security android; the series has won multiple Hugo, Nebula and Locus awards and has been adapted for television as “Murderbot”.
