Marie Lu is an American novelist, born Xiwei Lu on 11 July 1984 in Wuxi, China. Her family moved to the United States in 1989 and she grew up in Texas and Louisiana, later studying political science and biology at the University of Southern California and working in video games before turning to fiction. She made her debut in 2011 with “Legend”, a dystopian trilogy completed by “Prodigy” (2012) and “Champion” (2013). She has since written The Young Elites (2014-2016), the Warcross books (2017-2018), “Batman: Nightwalker” (2018) and the Skyhunter novels (2020-2021), followed by “Stars and Smoke” (2023) and “Icon and Inferno” (2024).
