Koyoharu Gotouge

Koyoharu Gotouge is a Japanese manga author whose identity and gender have not been made public; the artist works under this pen name and does not appear in person. From Fukuoka Prefecture, Gotouge published several one-shots in Weekly Shōnen Jump from 2013, including “Kagarigari”, before serialising “Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba” there from 2016 to 2020 — the story of Tanjiro Kamado, a young charcoal seller whose family is slaughtered by demons and whose sister is turned into one, and who becomes a demon slayer to save her. The series runs to twenty-three volumes and has over 220 million copies in circulation worldwide; it has been adapted into a television anime and films, including “Mugen Train”.
