Jo Nesbø is a Norwegian writer, born on 29 March 1960 in Oslo. A former footballer, economist and singer with the pop band Di Derre, he published his first novel, “The Bat”, in 1997, winning the Riverton and Glass Key prizes. It introduced Inspector Harry Hole of the Oslo police, the hero of a crime series of around a dozen novels that made his international name. He also writes standalone novels — “Headhunters”, “The Son”, “Macbeth”, “The Kingdom” — and the children's series Doctor Proctor. His work has been translated into more than fifty languages.
