Jean-Claude Mourlevat

Jean-Claude Mourlevat is a French writer for young readers, born in 1952 in Ambert, in central France. He taught German for about ten years, then worked as an actor and stage director of his own solo shows, before publishing his first children's book in 1997. His novels include “L'Enfant Océan” (1999), the two-part “La Rivière à l'envers” — “Tomek” (2000) and “Hannah” (2001) — “Le Combat d'hiver” (2006), “Terrienne” (2011) and the “Jefferson” series, begun in 2018. Translated into some twenty languages, he received the Astrid Lindgren Memorial Award in 2021, the first French writer to do so.
