Hiro Mashima is a Japanese manga artist, born on 3 May 1977 in Nagano Prefecture. He became known with Rave (1999-2005), serialised in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine, and then drew Fairy Tail (2006-2017) for the same magazine — his longest series, running to sixty-three volumes and extended by several sequels and spin-offs, among them 100 Years Quest, Blue Mistral, City Hero and Fairy Girls. He also published Monster Soul (2006-2007) and Monster Hunter Orage (2008-2009), followed by Edens Zero (2018-2024). Since 2023 he has been drawing Dead Rock. Rave was published in English as Rave Master.
