Fonda Lee is a Canadian-American author of science fiction and fantasy, born in Calgary in 1979. A former corporate strategist and a black belt in both karate and kung fu, she began with the young-adult novels “Zeroboxer” (2015), “Exo” (2017) and “Cross Fire” (2018). Her best-known work is The Green Bone Saga — “Jade City” (2017), “Jade War” (2019) and “Jade Legacy” (2021) — a saga of rival clans whose warriors draw power from jade; “Jade City” won the World Fantasy Award in 2018 and “Jade Legacy” the Locus Award in 2022. She has also written the novella “Untethered Sky” (2023) and opened the Breathmarked series with “Breath of the Dragon” (2025).
