Étienne Davodeau is a French comics author, born in the Maine-et-Loire in 1965. After a crime trilogy for Delcourt, he turned to reported, documentary comics drawn from fieldwork: "Rural!" (2001) and "Les mauvaises gens" (2005), which won both the critics' grand prize and the screenplay prize at Angoulême in 2006. "Lulu femme nue" (2008-2010) was adapted for the screen in 2013, and "Les ignorants" (2011) — published in English as "The Initiates" — records a year in which he and a winegrower each took up the other's trade.
