Elly Griffiths

Elly Griffiths is the pen name of Domenica de Rosa, an English crime novelist born on 17 August 1963 in London. She read English at King's College London and worked in publishing before turning to fiction. In 2009 she began the Ruth Galloway mysteries with "The Crossing Places", following a forensic archaeologist in Norfolk; the series ran to fifteen books, closing with "The Last Remains" (2023). She also writes the Brighton Mysteries, opened by "The Zig Zag Girl" (2014) and set around a 1950s detective and a stage magician, and the Harbinder Kaur novels, which begin with "The Stranger Diaries" (2018) — winner of the Edgar Award for best novel in 2020 — and continue with "The Postscript Murders" and "Bleeding Heart Yard". "The Frozen People" (2025) opened a new series featuring Ali Dawson. She has also written the children's series "A Girl Called Justice".
