Ed Yong is a British-American science journalist, born in Malaysia in 1981 and educated in Britain, with degrees in natural sciences from Cambridge and biochemistry from University College London. Long a staff writer at The Atlantic, he won the 2021 Pulitzer Prize for Explanatory Reporting for his coverage of the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as a George Polk Award, and received a Guggenheim Fellowship in 2024. He is the author of two New York Times bestsellers: I Contain Multitudes (2016), on the microbes that shape animal life, and An Immense World (2022), a survey of the sensory worlds of other species; an illustrated Young Readers Edition of An Immense World was published in 2025.
