Danielle Steel

Danielle Steel, born on 14 August 1947 in New York City, is an American novelist. Raised between France and the United States, she took her baccalauréat at the Lycée Français de New York and studied at Parsons School of Design before publishing her first novel, Going Home, in 1973; her breakthrough came with Passion's Promise in 1977. She has since written more than 150 novels, translated into some forty languages, most of them following the fortunes of women, families and inherited money. Her American publisher is Delacorte Press. She is also the author of His Bright Light (1998), a memoir of her son Nick Traina, and of books for children; around twenty of her novels have been adapted for television.
