American comic book artist, inker and writer, born in 1953 in Indianapolis. With co-writer David Michelinie he shaped Marvel's Iron Man across two runs, from 1978 to 1981 and again from 1987 to 1989, signing the storylines "Demon in a Bottle" and "Armor Wars". He also created the Hercules limited series in 1982 and wrote the opening issues of X-Factor in 1986. In 1989 he co-founded Valiant Comics with Jim Shooter, serving as editor-in-chief and co-creating X-O Manowar, then co-founded Future Comics in 2000.
