Blaise Hofmann is a French-speaking Swiss writer, born on 2 April 1978 in Morges. He read French, history and psychology at the University of Lausanne, and worked as a palliative-care nursing aide, an alpine shepherd and a secondary-school teacher before writing full time; he has tended vines since 2018. "Estive" (Zoé, 2007) won him the Prix Nicolas-Bouvier in 2008, and was followed by "L'assoiffée" (2009), "Marquises" (2014), "Capucine" (2015), "Monde animal" (2016), "Courir après la pluie" (Actes Sud, 2022), "Faire paysan" (2023) and "Artisanes" (2024). He also writes for children at La Joie de lire, and in 2019 was one of the two librettists of the Fête des Vignerons. He received the Prix Écrire la nature in 2024.
