Alice Hoffman

Alice Hoffman is an American novelist, born in New York City in 1952 and raised on Long Island. She studied at Adelphi University and took a master's in creative writing at Stanford, publishing her first novel, “Property Of”, in 1977. She has since written more than fifty books for adults, teenagers and children, among them “Practical Magic” (1995), whose Owens family she returned to in “The Rules of Magic” (2017), “Magic Lessons” (2020) and “The Book of Magic” (2021), as well as “Here on Earth” (1997), “The River King” (2000), “The Dovekeepers” (2011) and “The Marriage of Opposites” (2015). Several of her novels have been filmed. A breast cancer survivor, she endowed the Hoffman Breast Center at Mount Auburn Hospital in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
