Ali Smith is a Scottish novelist and short-story writer, born in 1962 in Inverness. Four times shortlisted for the Booker Prize, she has published a dozen novels, including Hotel World, The Accidental, How to be Both (Baileys Women's Prize, Goldsmiths Prize, Costa Novel Award) and the Seasonal Quartet — Autumn, Winter, Spring and Summer — written in the wake of the Brexit referendum.
