Alexis Averbuck is an American travel writer and painter. She writes guidebooks for Lonely Planet, specialising in Greece, Iceland, France, Italy and Antarctica, and also works for the BBC and the travel press. She crossed the Pacific by sailboat and spent a year living in Antarctica; she now divides her life between the Greek island of Hydra and New York, and exhibits her oil paintings and watercolours.
