Alex Aster

Alex Aster is an American author, born on 4 August 1995 in Jacksonville, Florida, into a Colombian-American family. She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania and came to wide notice after a TikTok video pitching a book idea went viral and led to a publishing deal. She had earlier written the middle-grade Emblem Island duology — “Curse of the Night Witch” (2020) and “Curse of the Forgotten City” (2021) — and went on to the bestselling young-adult fantasy series Lightlark, beginning with “Lightlark” (2022), followed by “Nightbane” and “Skyshade”. Her first adult novel, the romantasy “Summer in the City”, appeared in 2025. Film rights to Lightlark have been acquired by Universal Pictures.
