
Ziauddin Yousafzai is a Pakistani educator and education activist, born in 1969 in Shangla, in what is now Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He co-founded and ran the Khushal Public School, a chain of low-cost private schools in the Swat Valley, and campaigned for girls' schooling there when the Taliban were closing it down. He is the father of Malala Yousafzai and a co-founder and board member of the Malala Fund. His memoir Let Her Fly, written with Louise Carpenter, was published in 2018 and has been translated into German, Italian and Portuguese.
