Kate Fox

Kate Fox is a British social anthropologist and co-director of the Social Issues Research Centre in Oxford, where she studies the unwritten rules of everyday English behaviour — pub conversation, class markers, the etiquette of racecourses. Her early research appeared as the reports Passport to the Pub (1996) and Pubwatching, and her ethnography of British racing culture as The Racing Tribe (1999). Watching the English (2004), an account of English social codes drawn from years of participant observation, became an international bestseller and was revised and expanded in 2014.
