Stieg Larsson

Stieg Larsson was a Swedish journalist and novelist, born on 15 August 1954 in Skellefteå and died of a heart attack on 9 November 2004 in Stockholm, aged fifty. He devoted much of his career to fighting far-right extremism, founding the Expo Foundation and editing its magazine. He submitted three thrillers to his Swedish publisher shortly before his death; they appeared posthumously as the Millennium trilogy — “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” (2005), “The Girl Who Played with Fire” (2006) and “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets' Nest” (2007) — following the journalist Mikael Blomkvist and the hacker Lisbeth Salander, and became a global phenomenon. The series has been continued since 2015 by David Lagercrantz.
