Ryan Holiday is an American writer, born in California in 1987. He left university at nineteen for media strategy and became director of marketing for the clothing brand American Apparel, a trade he described in Trust Me, I'm Lying (2012). He then turned to Stoic philosophy, drawing on Marcus Aurelius, Seneca and Epictetus in The Obstacle Is the Way (2014), Ego Is the Enemy (2016) and Stillness Is the Key (2019); The Daily Stoic (2016), written with Stephen Hanselman, offers one meditation for each day of the year. He is also the author of Conspiracy (2018) and of a series on the four Stoic virtues opening with Courage Is Calling (2021), and has hosted The Daily Stoic podcast since 2018.
