Paula Hawkins is a British novelist, born on 26 August 1972 in Harare, Zimbabwe. She moved to London at seventeen, read philosophy, politics and economics at Keble College, Oxford, and worked as a business journalist for The Times. Between 2009 and 2013 she published four romantic comedies under the pen name Amy Silver. The Girl on the Train (2015), a psychological thriller, brought her worldwide readership and was adapted for the screen in 2016 with Emily Blunt. Into the Water (2017), A Slow Fire Burning (2021), the short story Blind Spot (2022) and The Blue Hour (2024) followed.
