Patrick Rothfuss is an American fantasy novelist, born on 6 June 1973 in Madison, Wisconsin. After many years as a student at the University of Wisconsin, he taught for a time before publishing his first novel, “The Name of the Wind”, in 2007. It opened the Kingkiller Chronicle trilogy, the first-person tale of the adventurer and musician Kvothe. Its second volume, “The Wise Man's Fear”, appeared in 2011; the third, “The Doors of Stone”, has been long awaited. He also wrote the novella “The Slow Regard of Silent Things” (2014), centred on the character Auri, and founded the charity Worldbuilders.
