Michelle Obama

Michelle Obama is an American lawyer and writer, born in Chicago in 1964, who served as First Lady of the United States from 2009 to 2017. A graduate of Princeton and Harvard Law School, she worked in law and in public service in Chicago before entering the White House, where she led initiatives on child nutrition and education. Her memoir Becoming (2018) became one of the best-selling books of its decade and was followed by the self-help book The Light We Carry (2022). She has also written The Light We Carry's companion journal and, earlier, American Grown (2012), about the White House kitchen garden.
