Marie Vareille is a French novelist, born in 1985 in Burgundy. A business-school graduate who also studied at Cornell, she worked in marketing before publishing her first novel, “Ma vie, mon ex et autres calamités”, in 2014. Lighter comedies gave way to darker fiction with “Ainsi gèlent les bulles de savon” (2021), “La Dernière allumette” (2024) and “Nous qui avons connu Solange” (2026). She also writes for teenagers: the trilogy “Elia, la passeuse d'âmes” (2016-2019) and “Le Syndrome du spaghetti” (2020), which won the Prix Babelio Jeune Adulte. Her books have been translated into a number of languages.
