Kiera Cass is an American writer of young adult fiction, born on 19 May 1981 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. She studied history at Radford University in Virginia. After self-publishing The Siren in 2008, she wrote The Selection (HarperTeen, 2012), a dystopian romance in which thirty-five young women compete for the hand of a prince; the series continued with The Elite (2013), The One (2014), The Heir (2015) and The Crown (2016), alongside several novellas. She has since published The Betrothed (2020) and its sequel The Betrayed (2021), and the standalone novel A Thousand Heartbeats (2022).
