Kate Atkinson

Kate Atkinson is an English novelist, born in York in 1951 and long resident in Edinburgh. She studied English at the University of Dundee and published her first novel, “Behind the Scenes at the Museum”, in 1995, winning the Whitbread Book of the Year. She created the private investigator Jackson Brodie in “Case Histories” (2004), followed by “One Good Turn” (2006), “When Will There Be Good News?” (2008), “Started Early, Took My Dog” (2010), “Big Sky” (2019) and “Death at the Sign of the Rook” (2024). Her other novels include “Life After Life” (2013) and “A God in Ruins” (2015), both Costa Novel Award winners, “Transcription” (2018) and “Shrines of Gaiety” (2022). She was appointed MBE in 2011.
