Heather Morris

Heather Morris is a New Zealand-born writer who has lived in Melbourne for most of her adult life. She worked for more than twenty years in the social work department of a Melbourne hospital while studying screenwriting. In 2003 she was introduced to Lale Sokolov, a Holocaust survivor who had been the tattooist at Auschwitz-Birkenau, and spent three years recording his account; it became her first novel, “The Tattooist of Auschwitz” (2018), later adapted as a television miniseries. She has since written “Cilka's Journey” (2020), “Three Sisters” (2021), “Sisters Under the Rising Sun” (2023) and “The Wish” (2025), all drawn from the testimony of people who lived through the Second World War.
