David Nicholls

David Nicholls is an English novelist and screenwriter, born on 30 November 1966 in Eastleigh, Hampshire. He read Drama and English at Bristol University and briefly trained as an actor. His third novel, One Day (2009), sold more than six million copies and was translated into forty languages, adapted for cinema in 2011 and as a Netflix series in 2024. He is also the author of Starter for Ten (2003), The Understudy (2005), Us (2014), Sweet Sorrow (2019) and You Are Here (2024). His screen adaptation of Edward St Aubyn's Patrick Melrose won him a BAFTA.
