Christopher Paolini is an American novelist, born on 17 November 1983 in Los Angeles. He was home-schooled and finished high school at fifteen, then wrote “Eragon”, which he self-published in 2002 and which a commercial publisher picked up the following year. It opened the Inheritance Cycle, set in the world of Alagaësia and continued by “Eldest” (2005), “Brisingr” (2008) and “Inheritance” (2011); the cycle has since been extended by “The Fork, the Witch, and the Worm” (2018) and “Murtagh” (2023). He also writes science fiction, with “To Sleep in a Sea of Stars” (2020) and “Fractal Noise” (2023). “Eragon” was adapted for the cinema in 2006.
