Andrzej Sapkowski

Andrzej Sapkowski, born in 1948 in Łódź, is a Polish fantasy writer. The Witcher began in 1986 as a short story about Geralt of Rivia, a monster hunter for hire, and grew into a saga of story collections and novels that made him one of the most translated Polish authors, with more than thirty million copies sold. He also wrote the Hussite Trilogy, a historical cycle set during the fifteenth-century Hussite Wars. The video games adapted from his books by CD Projekt Red, from 2007 onward, carried his work to a worldwide audience. He received the World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement in 2016.
