Al Feldstein

Al Feldstein (Brooklyn, 24 October 1925 - Paradise Valley, Montana, 29 April 2014) was an American comics writer, artist and editor. He joined EC Comics in 1948 and, from 1950 to 1953, edited and wrote for seven of its titles, among them Tales from the Crypt, The Vault of Horror, The Haunt of Fear, Weird Science, Weird Fantasy, Shock SuspenStories and Crime SuspenStories. He then edited Mad magazine for twenty-nine years, from 1956 to 1985, a period during which its circulation peaked at 2.85 million copies. He spent his retirement in the American West painting wildlife and landscapes.
